What is Data Engineering?
Data Engineering is the process of designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure that collects, stores, and prepares data for analytics and AI. It involves pipelines, cleaning, integration, and ensuring data quality.
In the Customer AI Masterclass (Unit 3.6: Data Engineering), this work is described as the hardest but most crucial part of AI adoption. Projects often fail not due to lack of algorithms, but because of poor data readiness. The Masterclass stresses starting small, iterating quickly, and avoiding perfection paralysis while ensuring surveys and operational data are robust enough for predictions.
